WATER POWER INDUSTRIES AS was founded in 1998 as a Limited company (AS) with a fully paid share capital. The founders were Finn Kaare and Even Evensen.
They have for a long time seen the power in low speed water, and they wanted to develope a good device that could extract this potential in a cheap and reliable way.
The present common technology has been used on water with a high pressure or low head waterfalls with large turbines.
Our vision:
The WPI turbine is to be the most preferred water turbine in regulated and unregulated mowing waters, because it will produce electricity from slow moving water with a negligent influence on the environment.

Partners & Founders:
Finn Kaare has experience from importing to Norway advanced materials and machinery for the plastic manufacturing industry. He was responsible for world wide export of packaging and machinery for the food industry. He spent five years supplying oven developed special pipes to gas stations in Europe, Middle and South America, Africa and Asia– and has long experience with cooperating with such large international companies as George Fischer AG, Shell, Exxon, YPFE etc. Additionally, Finn Kaare has experience from water supply systems in rural areas of Africa. He has founded his own company, Talary AS in 1997. This company had WW responsibility for water- and gasoline pipes and for import of plastic material etc for Norwegian industry. He has worked in WPI since –98
Even Evensen has extensive experience from marketing, bid preparation, contract negotiation, contract administration and project management. Three years experience as Project Manager, four years experience as Proposals Manager (Norwegian Petroleum Consultants AS), three years experience from project appraisals and tender/proposal reviews as team leader (Aker Maritime ASA), more than two years experience as Senior Vice President Commercial and five months as President (Aker Marine Contractors AS), and 6 months as Senior Vice President Marketing and Business Development (Aker Maritime - SPIN division).
WPI patent situation.
The approved patents, and those that are pending, are characterised by covering our “black box technology”. Our patents will be actively defended and maintained.
The external experts that have evaluated our patents are of the opinion that they cover important characteristics of our turbine. It will not be possible for other companies to produce vertical axis active pitch controlled water turbines that will have the same yield and production regularity.
